Our Sustainable Building Consultants are Accredited Professionals by the Green Building Council of South Africa and are appointed in addition to the conventional building design team. Their role is to work directly with owners, architects, engineers, and other real-estate professionals to integrate sustainable building techniques, technologies and materials into specific building projects so that they are essentially more comfortable, more efficient, more attractive, and ultimately more profitable.
As part of the design team they will significantly increase the chance of delivering a quality green building within budget, creating tremendous value by way of utility savings, occupant security, occupant health, and increased property value.
Ideally, our Sustainable Building Consultants should be appointed prior to the schematic design stage as it will vastly increase the likelihood of achieving project requirements within budget and it is also vital if the project is to be awarded Green Star points for having an Accredited Professional on the design team.
Depending on the services required a Sustainable Building Consultant will be of great assistance with the following tasks:
1)Decisions relating to the performance requirements of the
building; with particular relevance to sustainability.
2)Decision-making process relating to the range of appropriate
services, technologies and professionals capable of fulfilling the needs of the
building’s performance requirements.
3)Provision of information relating to the capability and
availability of appropriate technologies.
4)Decision-making process relating to the selection of the
buildings fittings and finishes.
5)Design of sustainable systems e.g. water heating, electricity,
HVAC, water recycling
6)Energy efficiency within the building
7)Water efficiency within the building
8)Computer simulation of building performance
9)Energy modelling of building
10)Project Management relating to specific sustainable building
systems i.e. water and energy consumption, waste management.
